Gradually, he left commercial work behind and devoted himself entirely to art. In his studio at the foot of Mount Ungaran, he creates unique animals from teak wood and driftwood, transforming natural shapes into almost lifelike sculptures. Each artwork is assembled by hand as a three-dimensional mosaic of nature, where every piece of wood finds its perfect place.
Today, his works are featured in private collections and museums, and his sculptures fascinate visitors through their remarkable ability to capture the movement, power, and spirit of animals in seemingly lifeless wood.
Abdul Ghofur is an artist from the island of Java who, from childhood, saw something alive in ordinary wood. As a boy, he created hundreds of drawings and later studied art and worked for many years in the furniture industry as a designer. It was there that he learned to understand wood — its shape, structure, and character.
Every sculpture is unique – handcrafted from natural materials, with no repetition and no duplicates.
More than just a work of art, each creation is a living story of the forest, brought to life in the form of an animal.
